DHM Powder Product Description
DHM is a polyphenolic hydroxy dihydroflavonol compound. As the most important pharmacologically active ingredient in vine tea (ampelopsis grossedentata), its content in its dry matter can be as high as about 30%, far exceeding that of other common flavonoid plants, earning it the reputation of "treasure of vine tea".
KINTAI is a leading herbal extract manufacturer in China, specializing in high-quality Vine Tea Extract Powder. With certifications in cGMP, ISO, and HACCP, we provide premium DHM powder, offering 98% purity as tested by HPLC. In addition, we also offer 30% water-soluble DHM.

DHM Powder vS Myricetin
Myricetin is a flavonoid primarily present in the stems and leaves of Ampelopsis grossedentata, as well as the bark and leaves of Myrica rubra. It exists as yellow acicular or granular crystals and is readily soluble in polar solvents with high polarity, such as acetonitrile, methanol, and ethanol. Myricetin and its derivatives exhibit diverse pharmacological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, hypoglycemic, analgesic, and hepatoprotective effects.

DHM Powder Physicochemical Properties & Bioavailability
1. Dihydromyricetin solubility
The solubility of DMY is affected by the solvent, temperature, and pH.
Its solubility in solvents follows the order: hot water, hot ethanol, and acetone (easily soluble) > ethanol and methanol (soluble) > ethyl acetate (very slightly soluble) > chloroform and petroleum ether (insoluble). Furthermore, DMY exhibits optimal solubility at pH 6.0.
2. Dihydromyricetin Bioavailability
Dihydromyricetin has a wide range of pharmacological activities, but its bioavailability is very poor due to its low solubility, permeability and gastrointestinal stability.
Poor water solubility:
Its solubility in water is only 0.7 mg/mL, which limits its release and absorption in the body.
Its solubility in water is only 0.7 mg/mL, which limits its release and absorption in the body.
Poor intestinal stability:
It is stable under acidic conditions, but it is easily decomposed in the alkaline environment of the small intestine (only 25% remains after 2 hours at pH 8.0), resulting in a large number of active ingredients being destroyed before absorption.
Poor bioavailability
The oral bioavailability of dihydromyricetin is poor, at only 4.02%. After oral administration of 100 mg/kg of dihydromyricetin, the Cmax in rat plasma was only about 80 ng/mL.

How to improve bioavailability of DHM Powder?
Currently, one of the most effective methods is to use cyclodextrin inclusion technology.
1. Mechanism of action:
Cyclodextrin (especially γ-cyclodextrin) molecules have a special structure of "external hydrophilicity and internal hydrophobicity", which can encapsulate dihydromyricetin molecules in their cavities to form stable inclusion complexes.

2. Results: This technology significantly improves the solubility and stability of dihydromyricetin.
After processing, the solubility of dihydromyricetin in cold water reached 20 mg/mL, which is 28.6 times higher than that of the raw material. The retention rate in acidic aqueous solution was 98.9% after 12 months of storage. In intestinal fluid environment, the retention rate was still 96.2% within 4 hours, which is far better than the 49.1% of the crystalline form.
3.Significantly improved bioavailability:
Through the above technology, its bioavailability is 6.25 times higher than that of dihydromyricetin crystals, which can significantly reduce the amount added and improve the taste experience of the end product.

What does DHM Powder do in the Food Industry?
1. Meat Preservation
Effectively inhibits fat and protein oxidation in cooked beef patties, pork patties, and other products, extending shelf life.
It can significantly reduce the formation of harmful substances such as heterocyclic amines produced during the grilling process.
At appropriate concentrations, it does not affect the overall acceptability of the product and can even improve its taste.
2. Antioxidant Properties of Edible Oils
In soybean oil, rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, and fish oil, their antioxidant effects are superior to or equivalent to synthetic antioxidants BHA and BHT. When used in combination with natural antioxidants such as rosemary extract, it can produce a synergistic effect, enhance antioxidant performance, and potentially reduce costs.
3. Baked goods
Adding it to bread can significantly reduce the formation of acrylamide, a potential carcinogen. Although it has some impact on the texture of bread, it has not significantly affected overall consumer acceptance and is considered a potential additive for developing functional and healthy breads.
4. Fruit preservation
It has a significant anti-browning effect on fresh-cut apple slices, which is better than that of ascorbic acid of the same concentration, and can produce a synergistic effect with ascorbic acid.

The anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antioxidant, and safe properties of dihydromyricetin make it a promising candidate for widespread application in the food industry. However, its high dosage and poor water solubility limit its application in many food formulations. Therefore, the development and utilization of dihydromyricetin in functional foods still faces significant limitations.
DHM Powder Dihydromyricetin For Hangovers
Acetaldehyde, a metabolite of ethanol, is the main cause of dizziness and hangovers after drinking, and a major substance that damages the liver. Dihydromyricetin can protect the liver, accelerate the rapid decomposition of acetaldehyde, a metabolite of ethanol, and reduce its damage to liver cells.
In addition, dihydromyricetin can improve the increased activity of serum lactate dehydrogenase caused by hepatocellular damage and inhibit the formation of collagen fibers in hepatic M cells, thereby playing a role in protecting the liver and significantly reducing liver damage.
How does dihydromyricetin DHM Powder work?
1.Reducing the impact of alcohol on the brain:
Most common symptoms of alcoholism, such as decreased inhibition, slurred speech, and loss of balance, are caused by the action of GABA receptors in the brain. Even when blood alcohol levels remain high, dihydromyricetin can counteract this effect.
2.Improving liver function:
The liver needs sufficient time to fully process alcohol and eliminate it from the system. With the help of DHM, the liver can work faster, and the patient can sober up more quickly.
